Review the club and class web sites that have been created and choose three (a small, a medium and a large) to serve as templates. This will allow Yale groups without sites to develop an online presence and communication tool quickly and inexpensively. Focus should be on “evergreen material” that does not need to be updated very frequently.
We are happy with our site (www.YaleClubRI.org) but it took three months to build and get working. Online communication has been a tremendous help in revitalizing our Club organization.
The Yale Club of Oregon already has its website on the AYA server. I became tired of paying a professional to keep it updated so I purchased a "simple" web editor. After 2 days of trying to log on (not simple) and to change the information on the page, I decided that I was simpler than the "simple" web editor.
Conclusion - AYA should provide a SIMPLE web editor for us to download so that we can update the pages ourselves.
Rather than picking just three templates, why not offer a number, selecting all the good websites and thus allowing a "small" organization to choose from several "small" templates.
Also, there are likely to be differences between the websites for classes, clubs and other affinity groups. Each should have one or more templates.

We've just launched the Class of 82 website. It features some user-generated content, such as a blog, and a class book where classmates can post photos. We're hoping this will help keep the site current and interesting to the class. Check it out at www.Yale82.org.
