Multiclass events or reunions

Category: Yale College Classes

Rating: 4 (4 for, 0 against)

My friends at Yale came from classes before and after mine, but at reunions we only see the people who just happened to be in our class. Hold "cluster reunions" where for the 5th year anniversay of a class, people from the class before and after that could be invited to come as well.

As an added comment, it was also mentioned that AYA or classes could organized mini-reunions among clusters of classes that were at Yale about the same time.

Princeton reunions are for ALL classes, with each five year reunion class serving as the class with whom the two preceding and two following years gather. Thus in June 2005, the class of 1995 will have its 10th reunion. The classes of '93, '94, '96 and '97 would participate with '95. The next year, members of '93 would participate with '91 then having its 15th reunion. That way, non-reunion classes have a chance to gather both with preceding and following classes.

I like the idea, but how would you handle the tremendous increase in attendees each year? My understanding is that the University is challenged to provide accomodation for all the alumni it already gets.

Great idea. For rooms on campus, restrict reservations to class members until, say, 60 days prior to the event. Limit class dinners to class members; nearby restaurants could handle overflow, which benefits New Haven.
