Make class listservs sign-up only, not entire class by default. Create a
blast function to all class members for class officers only to use so that they
do not have rely on listservs.
The current class listserv function is already "sign-up only". In other
words, alumni must ask to be subscribed to their class listserv (club and SIG
listservs work the same way) to be added to the list - it is not all classmates
by default. See the AYA website (http://www.aya.yale.edu/lists/) for more
information.
In addition, we do have a blast email function which class officers can make
use of by contacting their AYA staff liaison. This functionality can be used to
send email to everyone that Yale has an email address for, with the exception
of those classmates who have asked not to be contacted by email. AYA staff work
with class officers to ensure that we are using this tool appropriately, so
that classmates don't feel they are getting too many email messages from the
class.
