The latest cell phones equiped with cameras might prove a crime deterrent if an emergency number dialed would automatically send pictures to a police center by a person under threat dialed the short number. This might prove useful for accidents and other disasters.

Fantastic Idea, and not only suitable for personal use!
The way the prices are coming down, car manufacturers could actually include a few of these placed at strategic points in the vehicle itself. These could automatically activate after they experience a g-force greater than a preset limit. They could then send the GPS location in addition to the photos. In case the incident was non-serious the driver should have enough time to override the call before it connects.
This is already happening according to recent news reports. A child, with one of these phones, after being abducted, took and sent a picture giving a clue to where she was. She was found.
Today, October 3, 2004, a person assaulted took a picture in the manner described which resulted in a quick arrest of the criminal. This looks as if it might get popular.
