The Problem.Today's vent capture only a small fraction of the odor from stoves

The Proposal.I propose sliding glass panes to encase the stove top and the kitchen vent, so that no air can escape while cooking. The glass of course would have to be fire proof.

Why?Kitchen odors are a big problem, especially if you have an open plan apartment and even more if you grill meat (because in that case it's not only the odor, but also the fat that floats around with the hot air and then deposits itself on everything in the house)

Any other suggestion that obtain the same goal is welcome

Unfortunatly, anyone familiar with cooking is aware that it is a process requiring reasonably constant supervision and manipulation where one must add ingredients at the proper times, stir, taste, re-evaluate the process as it goes. Total enclosure such as in laboratories working with dangerous materials is expensive and impractical. An entire kitchen, perhaps, could be hermetically sealed from the house with high volume exhaust fans to remove odors. Personally, I enjoy the odors of cooking.
