Ever suffer from insomnia because you had too many ideas floating in your head and you were afraid you’d forget them the next day ? Ever awakened with your dream fresh in mind but afraid to forget it ? It would be great to be able to write down your ideas, thoughts and dreams but turning on the light might wake up your bed partner. Here is a solution :

Use a Night Pen.

The Night Pen could be a hand-held ink pen that would offer a very small source of light right by the point of the pen, just enough to see three words before and after. The Night Pen, no larger than the common 4-color Bic pens, would be battery equipped (AAA batteries housed in the upper-most part of the pen), and it would have a tiny "led" light bulb (similar to those used for campers' forehead reading lights), positioned near the point of the pen, inside the translucent bottom half of the pen. The pen would have an on/off button.

The exterior coating of the Night Pen would be in a florescent material so that it would be easier to find in the dark.

Perhaps there could also be Night Paper pads with florescent lines so that the paper would also be easy to find in the dark.

Night Pen, a « brilliant idea » . What do you think ?

Now of you just add some sensors, a bit of memory, and a USB interface then the Night Pen will remember what you wrote down and you could download it to your PC in the morning.

i like the idea. how about using a smaller watch type battery instead. this would definately cut down on the size.
