Hospital Delivery Service | |||||||||||||||||
A hospital bed is very similar to a seat on an airplane...you are stuck with boredom. The idea is to offer DVD player and video rental/delivery for patients in hospitals. Could also rent books, games, deliver newspapers. Another delivery item could be food. Again, just like on a plane, the food in hospitals usually stinks. Would have to make sure that it adheres to hospital dietary guidelines.

Wow..great idea. I thought of the same thing - providing free dvd, video game, and music rentals for sick kids in hospitals. My idea was non-profit where people would donate money and/or portions of their dvd, video game, or music collections and the non-profit company would distribute them as a rental service around to hospitals.
Although some aspects of the idea has merits, a hospital situation is somewhat tricky. The patient's contacts are severely restricted and even friends are fequently excluded from contact. Diet, as has been indicated is also touchy and the possibilities for introduction of external infection in critical circumstances can be a problem. These might be overcome through a special hostital contact section which could relay the requests and deliveries but it would require establishing a special service group within the complex that could protect the patients against unwise procedures and the hospital might find the whole thing too dangerous and annoying to do.
How about PPV service like a Hotel offers?
Sounds like a great idea to have DVD and video rental. But patients are supoosed to rest as much as they can. With all these attractions, patients might have to stay up to finish their DVD and affecting the speed of recovery. This may be implemented in re-habitation centre where rest is the as curcial to the patients.
I'm not getting this.Progressive hospitals are aware of providing patients with an improved experience, increased privacy, more direct access to care providers, and expanded ammenities. It's not the bed, it's the mission of patient-centered healthcare providers that puts refrigerators and VCR's in patient rooms; puts clowns and parent accommodations in pediatric units; internet access at the bedside.Besides, a hospital stay is not a vaction (at least to most people).
