Why can't we have an universal hand free system for all types of cell phones. Now that in some countries you must use hand-free cell phone when driving, it would be very costly and inconvenience to install different hand-free systems for every car users in a family. Surely, you can't expect the whole family to be using the same brand or model of cell phone.
Blue tooth may be able to solve some of the problems. But with blue tooth, you have to wear the earpiece once you got on the car and keep wearing that all the way. Also since it is a separate device, the volume of your car radio will not go down automatically when your phone ring.

It could be done, but the phones today speak somewhat differently along bradns, and some may not even have some of the facilites suitable for a true universal handsfree system.
