Many conceptions of a multiverse align the 4 dimensional subuniverses in a parallel direction so that they laminate across the fifth dimension. Therefore, according to these conceptions, individuals existing in these parallel universes are separated from each other and progress from the past to the future much the way the dancing team, the Rockettes move forward in step. But this seems to me to be a very limited conception. Perhaps the multiuniverses are welded into a seamless continuum and each of our consciousnesses may wander across what were considered impenetrable barriers between universes and none of us live in the same universe consecutively.

Maybe we need a new subcategory for conjecture and theory. I am not sure how you want to classify this one, sand, but it certainly sounds interesting. Then on the other hand, maybe we are all in the same universe and the string theorists are onto something with their 10 (or more) dimensions. If that is so then most “real” stuff escapes our observation since they all have components in other dimensions that we cannot see.
Gravity sure seems to be a prime candidate, and so would “dark matter”! Such a universe would also explain some aspects of the quantum phenomenon of particles spontaneously popping in and out of existence. For that matter, even time could have an “imaginary component”, so here would lie the basis for a theory supporting a future time machine.
I am sure others will have even wilder ideas! Let's hear some…
One of the things that brought about this idea was that when I was a kid many of the things, like science-fiction for instance, were an interest of only a small select group, but as I got older, more and more people found them interesting. And there were several other things that I liked as a kid that came into general popularity. Quantum theory makes many phenomena dependent upon the observer so I started wondering if there is a tropism of individual consciousnesses that drew them into time-space paths of their particular taste preferences.
