When you use the microwave, why are you following complicated instructions on the packet. Each item has a unique barcode. The barcode could tell your microwave its instructions.

"Full power 1 minute", prompt "stir food" to human, "Full power another minute", prompt "Finished".

Also you are recording food that you have used, this could be handy when you re-order.

We can take a home network, for granted, in these ideas right?

Love it. I hate it when it tells you different times for different powered microwaves. I have no idea of my microwaves power (or even how to use most of the functions).

I heard something about this concept when newtwork kitchen appliances were developed. I think having the appliance networked will have the instant availability of instructions for everything, as a standalone will not have enough room for everything, and new product as they come along.

I guess an alternative to a networked microwave is to have a "cauzin" like card reader, with the card printed inside the carton. The card would have the instructions encoded into a bit code read by a scanner, and kept in the memory of the appliance, where the bar-code scanner will read the bar-code every time you wish to prepare that food.

This is a good idea. Similar thing could be applied to the conventional oven. Once a barcode is scanned the Conventional oven preheats to the required temperature and beeps you to keep the food and then goes into the cooking cycle.

theres some people that have "smart kitchens" where most of the stuff has a small RFID chip built in... the problem is that you cant put a metal computer chip into the microwave... so u pu it in the box, and put the box on top of the microwave where it can be read...

this is also tied into a computer to tell you when you are low on ingrediants, and some have a reicpe display that will show you what you need/need to buy... or if your really hungry, or cant go shopping, a feature of "what can i cook with what i have"... ide love to have one of these smart kitchens... but i am broke... so owell... its nice to dream :D
