I'm surprised nobody has come up with a digital display unit that fits onto your back window that would allow you to show messages to those behind you. It could 3-4" high so as not to interfere with your rear view vision. The display could be keyed in by the driver/passenger on a keypad. You could send short messages to the idiot behind you.....'your too close' or if you see a great looking gal or vice-versa you could pop in your cell phone number and see where it goes from there! The former idea is the modern day equivalent to the 'finger' and could be potentially get you shot but hey if your that teed off it's worth it...and if the latter lands you a hot date..cool.
If you have a business you could also advertise deals, etc...but don't make the message too lengthy or someone will smack you in the rear end trying to read everything.
Somewhere in the the motor vehicle rules and regs there's probably a law against this sort of thing.

A good idea but there are several obstacles to its implementation.
