One of the most boring activities people must endure is waiting for transportation on busses, subways, airports, trains. In the USA, there is brief minimum entertainment in posted advertising but that is only a momentary surcease of boredom. In Europe it is even worse as the same ads are duplicated endlessly across the waiting platforms. And many of the poster places are frequently empty of material waiting for firms to rent them. Why not devote a few of these spaces to places where creative people may freely post items about the community, original poetry and graphics, even comic strips done by hand or computer to be entertaining or making a worthwhile point. It certainly would be more stimulating than the graffiti which has little character or originality or skill. Perhaps a graphic format could be laid down to indicate where certain types of material might be placed with an editorial position proposing certain points of view. If nothing else, it would stimulate a sense of community.

How about linking all those internet pop-up ads, etc to these sites? If you start now -
by the time flat-screen/plasma technology gets cheap all those billboards could be running-readers of the internet. It may not be any more informative but at least it could cycle through in sync with transport schedules and while you were waitng you would likely not see the same ad twice.
