Rear Headlights | |||||||||||||||||
Why not have rear headlights as an option in automobiles? They would only be activated while in reverse gear and would aid the driver when backing up in dark conditions. They would also aid others in parking lots by making it easier to see drivers who are about to pull out of parking spaces in dark conditions.

these already exist. They are called reversing lights. I'm yet to see a car without them. Maybe you are saying that reversing lights should be brighter. I don't no if this is really an issue with cars currently. I'm always able to see enough when I am backing up.
I've got to agree with pedalpete. It's a fix for a problem that doesn't exist.
NOt necessary anymore due to the usue of real-time video cameras for reversing. These cameras can even be low level infra-red which gives a daylight equivalent picture. Great for parking at night, and of course mounted on the front allows drivers to see objects not normally visible in low and no light conditions. Some OEMs already have such features avaialble as options on some of the higher range cars. Check with your local dealer.
