Sometimes I see people walking with two cell phones. Why not have 1 cell phone with 2 or 3 numbers. So, for example, you would be able to use one for business and one privat.

There are dial SIM phones, and the TDMA/CDMA phine I have here has dual-NAM, but I don't know if it (or a dual-sim GSM, can use both at once, or if you must switch between the two.

There are dual-NAM phones which can have two numbers. The carriers hate them because they are more complex to program, and don't generate enough more revenue for the companies.
