I don't get exactly what you are thinking of, but many cars these days include key fob transmitters which allow you to unlock the card/trunk with remote contol. On some vans it even opens the sliding door, and with aftermarket devices, the skies the limit I guess

Sorry for my English, what I am trying to say is that car-manufacturers could grab a golden business-opportunity by broaden the possibilities where car-keys can be used/of use. If you think about it, a normal person will carry only two items in their jacket all the time (unless they use a purse ;). One is the mobile-phone, which is becoming a center of communication and media. The car-key on the other hand is just used to..open the car?! see?! Why not let it open your doors at the office and at home also? Just a push on the keybutton and the doors open only for you :). Not stopping there, could it be used for other things also? like unlocking the parental control on the TV? Increase the lights and temperature in the house? Should the mobilephone and your pocket-keyset merge digitally perhaps? Carkeys with GPS-tracking (lifesaver!), usb-interface and 512MB memory? Car-key MP3 player? Just plug in your earphones, hehe. Sound-recording? Re-introduction of a carkey-pager where the mobilephone is not usable? walkie-talkie? Monitoring your health by measuring your bodyheat or similar? Start-stop watch, lighter? Camera? Payment-unit? digital Id-card? "phew" I'm spinning my head.. :))
