Wet beeping hearing aid | |||||||||||||||||
A common problem of hearing aid users is wearing them in the shower. Repair then costs $125. I've worn mine in the shower several times over the past 30 years, and in the spa once. An acquaintance received aids from public aid. After wearing two sets in the shower, she was denied more aids or repair. My aid has a beeper built in to indicate low battery. Couldn't they put a sensor in to beep when in high humidity? I would pay $100 at the time of purchase for the feature.

Learned the hard way that the damage might not be total. Idon't enjoy wearing mine, so carried it in a pocket untilneeded and managed without it in many situations. However, Iran the aid (in shirt pocket) through a complete wash/dry cycle and a couple of weeks later went in to the serviceexpecting to have to replace the whole thing. They tested itand it was fine.
Possible solutions to original problem.... Gentle low heatfrom hair dryer or sun-drying. (Haven't had to try either.)
We are actual coming out with a new aid that is water resistant. Pam - Puretone Hearing Group
