Web based chat rooms came with the Internet. Why not have chat rooms on cell phones offered by your cellular carrier for a monthly flat fee? Customers/participants can dial in and choose topics ranging from Sports, Politics, Philosophy and Technology etc. Each chat room has a maximum number of participants. With this, when on the road and you’ve run out of friends and family to keep company with (of course by this time you’re tired of being talked to or sang to by the audio set in your car), you can dial in. This might prove more effective than a cup of coffee on the road. It might also prove therapeutic for lonely souls. Sorry to border if this service exists…….

I wouldn't use this service myself, but I could easily imagine this becoming a popular alternative to web chat. How would this be priced against a standard call? This would be the sort of thing people would potentially spend hours using.
