I'd love to as I know that so much is wasted that would be usable for others. But our dumps are strict regulated here & one can't get in. Sometimes, what's considered useful is salvaged & sold by the recycling depots.

My sister-in-law once found almost new women's clothing, jewellry (some made of gold), & good shoes that someone's husband threw away after a divorce. One was allowed to salvage in her dump so she came home with lots of goodies.

Our local transfer station has a small, informal area where people can leave usable clothes, furniture, etc. Some towns have a whole Swap Shop set up. If you use FreeCycle.org, you can give away and ask for recycled stuff for free, before it ever reaches the landfill or transfer station.
