Double scale thermometer | |||||||||||||||||
Although I have lived in Celcius country for quite a while, my general feel for temperaure is still with Fahrenheit. Although this idea is very obvious, I have never seen a thermometer for outside window display that has a Celsius scale on one side and a Fahrenheit display on the other side of the tube. It would help me a lot, especially when I write friends in the USA about what the temperature is.

Sand, although Canada is a metric country, we were Imperial 25 years ago, so I knew this kind of device existed. We still like hearing our temps in C and F.
Go to www.homedepot.com and enter the product code 161343 in the Search box at the top right. Tell your friends in the US to order one for you. Price: $4.15/ea.
Frankly, I wish we all measured everything in Kelvin :)
Not just Home Depot, a lot of the thermometer sold in Canada are dual scale. Electronic ones often C/F switches.
I know they make them, I have a big (12" diameter) bimetal thermometer that reads both C and F. I got it at a feed store about 30 years ago. I think I also had an alcohol-filled glass one that I bought at about the same time. I don't know what happened to it. 161343 didn't work for me, try 154555, $2.69 US. Usually I do the conversion math in my head, or with pencil on a spiral memo notepad I keep next to the computer. 1 degree C is 1.8 degrees F, 32F is 0C.
Well I live in the glorious USA so down here we have had these for many years unlike you canadains I laugh at you!
