Fingerprint readers/detectors read the ridges/grooves on a finger. To forge a fingerprint you only need to cover the finger with a pliant material which takes the impression of someone else's fingerprint.

To counter this attack on the scanner, use an ultrasonic vibration to breakup the structure of the material.
