I'm sure someone has thought of this already. I want a GPS-MLS device I can take in my car that will beep when ever I get within a set radius of a house that is for sale within my range of price and size.

It wouldn't be difficult for a Real Estate company to do this. They could have downloadable waypoint (lat and long) for each house on their website. The waypoint would download directly to your GPS. This is very common today for a variety of GPS related activities. The waypoints could be displayed on your GPS's map so you would know where the houses are in respect to your current location.

I'm surprised nobody has thought of this yet.

Forget the expensive GPS. Not that it wouldn't work, but how about tuning in am radio station that would start play a recording when you come near a home for sale and would describe it. This system is used in some theme parks as you enter for information.

In response to Michael's idea, its already been implimented, though the signal isnt anything too strong. There is a yard sign out front and it tells you a station to tune into, inside the house is a low-strength FM or AM station.

I experienced it once. Pull into the driveway (as to not block the road) of the house you are investigating, and a repeating recording describing the house is playing from some station within the residence.

Hi Shuaksky.

Smarter Agent has actually invented and patented a technology that does exactly what you’re looking for! Smarter Agent’s flagship application, Homes for Sale, allows users to search for properties directly from their own personal cell phone using GPS technology (assuming your phone has GPS capabilities). With the click of a button, you will be able to view up to 100 of the homes for sale closest to your current location. Returned information includes the sales price, the number of beds/baths, interior and exterior features, property descriptions – even pictures! You can then plot the properties on an interactive map to see where you are in relation to the home. A “Call to See” button routes you to a broker/agent who can answer any questions you may have on the property or schedule a tour.

I know that you were looking for a GPS-MLS device, so using the GPS Quick Search within the Homes for Sale application is the fastest and easiest way to search. However, you can also do a GPS Refine Search, which allows you to enter in specific search criteria – such as the number of beds and baths, the price or the search radius. Even if your phone isn’t GPS capable, you can still use Homes for Sale by entering in an address, city, community or zip code.

Homes for Sale is available on over 100 different cell phone models, including Blackberry’s and iPhones. Visit www.SmarterAgent.com to learn more. I hope this helps!
