These days there is a great deal of fax 'spam' like vacation getaways, get rich quick deals ad infinitum. If a fax machine received a lot of overnight faxes and could store them in onboard RAM, why not have a small 3"x3" display screen that would allow a preview of the fax and be able to delete it if it were junk? It costs nothing to send a fax. It's a waste of paper to receive what you don't want.
Given that you could preview a fax, also allow the ability to block that incoming number from sending faxes ever again. (And I know that junkmail faxes will just switch numbers, but it's better than nothing.) If you block the email, send an autoresponder fax to the sender stating 'Desist sending faxes to this number.'
The technology should exist for this and considering how much people complain about spam email, junk mail, telemarketing and the like, I'm surprised no company has created a fax machine that will stop wasteful annoyances.
