So maybe you've seen the new trend in reality shows on TV. First the reality shows, in general. Then the reality contest shows like survivor, and big brother. Now the reality make-overs like ABC "extreme Makeover" Why not have a very Extreme Makeover. Instead of someone just getting plastic surgeory, or motivation (like MTV's "Made") Why not take a homeless person, and take them as far as they can go, just to see how much chage, before and after? Give them, food, cloths, a place to call home, therapy, job counseling, address all medical needs, including elective one's, and help make them a millionare philantropist. 'Subjects' of course would have to have a clean enough backround, or at least no outstanding warrants, or history of serious crime, & drug free at the time of appointment. Homelessness is a problem. This would take the issue headon, and show just how far a person could go, and how much potential people have to change, and turn things around. I think it could be interesting anyway.

I wouldn't go as far as making them into millionaire philanthropists. Why not stop at productive, hard-working, tax-paying, voting middle-class citizens. Do this a couple of hundred times, and people might start to believe that there is little essential difference between members of different classes, it's a question of picking the right parents and the right neighborhood to grow up in.
Why stop anywhere at all? The purpose is to show the potential every person has. There are a lot of ways to do well. Maybe if the idividual is taught investing, or granted seed money to develop an idea. This website is a testiment that people get profitable ideas. For many people, poverty has been their whole exsistance, a show like this would make a real difference. The person this show changes, would continue to touch the lives of other people in similar situations. The plastic suergeons on ABC's Extreme Makeover are well compensated, as well as particitpating in a glorified comercial for their practice. In like maner, there are Dozens of investing, and self help guru's that could step up and make a difference in the life of someone. If one episode, or season was based on riches -via the stock market, it might help draw more investors to the market, or boost investing confidence. I was flipping channels once, and saw Operah give a stage hand that worked on her studio a makeover. This guy went from homely, to looking like a million bucks. The premise of this show is much the same, only this person would have Earned a million dollars somehow, and come from much dire circumstances. Lastly, going from dirt poor to wealthy would make for dramatic Television. It would also go far to show what kind of chronic ailments people live with. There are homeless people walking around w/ broken bones, and other expensive health issues that would come as a supprise to the viewing public. Perhaps if it was somehow in budget of 1 to 10 million dollars, you could show realistically the ups and downs of having money. I've heard of people winning the lottery, and losing it all. A show like this would also be a kind of public service announcement, to what people can expect. The only difference is, the participant wouldn't, with intevention, mentoring, and motivation.
Every homeless person I've known personally has made a conscious choice to live on the street. This is just the kind of thing we don't need is another sappy reality show where the camera and writers play up on themselves and the goodness of mankind. As soon as reality sinks in, all of a sudden the house, cars, and responsibilities begin to fade in importance.
And since EmeraldFalcon knows all of the homeless people in the world...
I've had this idea myself, and I would wholeheartedly support it. Frankly, if I ever thought that I could do it, I would want to do it myself, publicity be damned. Just take someone off the street and RESCUE them, get them up to that middle class existence and set them loose.
