Where's my kid's school bus? | |||||||||||||||||
Why Not put GPS on school buses? There are two possible applications here: 1) parents at work can find out where their kid's bus is and what time it arrived at their bus stop, via a website they can log in to from the office; 2) parents waiting on the streetcorner can find out where the bus is using the browser on a mobile phone.

Ideally, the bus runs on a schedule and would realatively be at the same place at the same time every day.
My thought is why not if something comes up, the bus driver informs the bus dispatch, which sends amessage to the school whom contact the parents, by phone, Email, Text meassage or whatever, if they care to.
This wouldn't be hard to implement, either. I know Seattle city buses have such technology and can be tracked over the web. There's an alarm that you can set when it passes a certain location.
However, that is true - it might be a waste of technology since most buses have certain schedules. I like the texting idea if there are any delays, though.
If you're worried about your child, there are personal GPS devices now for children that can track their every move.
