Would it be possible to combine the functions of a fast food drive thru like an In-n-Out with the functions of a old time gas station?

Instead of just sitting in the drive through waiting to give your order and/or get your food, you could also have a service person pump some gas into your tank.

Possible, but you have to account for the gas systems and the food prep systems (which involve open flames usually), which cannot be in proximity, amongst other issues mixing food and fuel.

Instead of gas, you could add in other services, though. Nail-clipping, blow-drying of the hair, advice-giving, adding air to tires, things that are quick. You could pick from a menu when you pull up to order your food. And while I'm waiting, I'd like my windsheild washed. Tires pumped up. Teeth brushed.

On the other hand, anything that makes driving more popular/fun/easy is not something I'd vote for.

Maybe car hops at a gas station where you order your food from an intercom on the pump. No need to have the food preparation area so close to the fueling operation that way.
