With some modification, it should be possible to make a specialized bubble jet printer that would use food coloring to paint pictures on a white icing background for intricate cake or cookie decoration. Cookies decorated in that manner could become edible greeting cards or place settings for kids' birthday parties.

They've been doing this for years.
I had my son's birthday cake decorated with a photograph that was printed onto the icing. Outrageously expensive.
Although it would be very expensive it should be possible to get food color printing cartridges for a standard computer printer and print on rice paper which is edible and which should easily become part of cake icing.
