More Hand Dryers | |||||||||||||||||
This is an idea for improving public bathrooms that have hand dryers. Have you ever noticed that most public bathrooms have half as many hand dryers as they do sinks? This is completely illogical as it takes you much longer to dry your hands than it does to wash them. As such, all public bathrooms with hand dryers should have at least as many hand dryers as sinks. In fact, they should probably have more hand dryers than sinks if they want to eliminate line-ups at bathrooms. This idea should be applicable to all public bathrooms, not just high-volume bathrooms such as those at stadiums. If the architects have ascertained that a large number of sinks are necessary, an equal or greater number of dryers are also essential.

My recommendation is to do away with hand dryers or find a way to make them more sanitary. Think about it - you have a moist, germ filled environment and the dryers are sucking up air and germs from this environment providing a nice warm place for the germs to grow and then blowing them all over your just washed hands! Yuck! And I doubt they are cleaned very often - imagine the crud that builds up inside (or better yet - don't imagine it). I won't use them. I'll get a wad of toilet paper to dry my hands with before I'll use one of these. I think the suggestion needs to be a self sanitizing electric hand dryer.
