We are a large institution that is undergoing a review of our application procedures. We currently take in 300,000 applications on a yearly basis. To streamline this process, we are thinking of instituting web-based, on-line applications.

We plan to ensure that we maintain personal contact with our prospective employees during the application process by using the following tools:

-Give the applicant a choice of communication modes (phone, mail, email)

-Personalize each technical ‘touch point’

-Built-in feedback that monitors the status of your application

-A Talk-to-Me button on every web page so that the applicant can request a personal phone call at any point in the process

-We are considering assigning a “real” person to go along with the process so that there is always someone you can contact

-Establishing a ‘Welcome Centre’ (both physical and virtual) that gives applicants the opportunity to find out about the institution

-Develop a ‘chat room’ where applicants can ‘talk’ to one another

We can't decide (at least I can't). You're company will need to figure out if this would be profitable or not.
