Problem: There are not enough independent resources available to the public to assist it in gathering information on political candidates. Only political contribution information, voting records, and vital statistics are available from independent sources currently.
Concept: An independent public resource be formed on the web that collects detailed information on political candidates.
Content: For example, not only would a candidates voting record on a bill be present, but also the details of the bill, quotations on why the candidate cast his vote, how other candidates voted, etc. Defined platforms across many issues will give a snapshot view and it can offer details if someone wants to divulge into a certain aspect of the candidates character or past. Maybe even sound files, video clips, related web links, etc. can be collected as well. The candidates themselves can have access to a certain part available for himself to update. This resource would be funded by the candidates campaigns themselves. Perhaps 1% of all campaign collection would go towards this effort. The public is then free of paying for the resource as well.

GOOD SUGGESTION ...
The more info that can be certified as un-biased, the better. I did want to note that there are some sites that are trying to show this info which I have tried to list in:www.WeMattter.com/links#billinfo , but it is an un-solved problem as to how to build such info.
I think that what I'd want is a site that could get at all votes of incumbents and how chalengers say they would vote and links to the bill and comments, then a way of getting ratings based on individual GOOD/BAD weightings. These weightings could be done by any user or perhaps "imported" from people or Special Intrest sites. That way, I could see how an Incoumbent / Chalenger voted / would have voted on bills that I was interested in, or a person or site I "trusted" was interested in.
As far as the other info, I'd suggest providing comment areas so that the cadidates (and their supporters) could point to their ads, video's, etc. That way the info would be availalbe on the site, but not managed by the site.
