Although you may keep your hands germ free, the interior of the carrying bag for the device will inevitably become contaminated. Repeatedly using the device will increase the contamination and it will be impossible to prevent contact between the interior of the bag and the hands making the bag a very dangerous item. An alternative solution would be to carry a small quantity of RDX, the adhesive plastic explosive that may carefully be affixed to the offending door's hinges. The door then can be safely blasted off and no contact between the door and the user is then necessary. There may be problems with terrorist inspection squads but at least you will remain germ free.
User sand suggested that the wakmah would become contaminated. I generally stick mine to an area of door that nobody else would touch.
A few disposable rubber gloves would fit more easily in a pocket or purse, and they're more versatile.
