I love my Honda, but of course there are a few little things I would like to change about it, especially in the interior. Consumers need a quick and easy communications link to the manufacturer of the products they use, so that it is not too much work to send their feedback about how to improve the products. This would make products improve and evolve faster!
One way for cars would be to use an "On-Star"-like system where a user could hit a button and record and transmit a voice message as feedback, like, "I always leave my key in the ignition, so I would LOVE an easy way to disable the incessant beeping every time I have my door open." The beeping sucks, but not to the point I am going to take it to the dealer and see if there is a way to re-program the car's computer. Maybe next year's model could include my wish.
Honda could randomly install these systems in say 5,000 cars and analyze the incoming suggestions as a sample of all owners. They could even reward owners with suggestions that were used with some kind of discount.
As it is now, I would probably have to write a letter to Honda and who knows if the information would ever get to the right place. Certainly they would not know how statistically significant my comment was. Maybe there are thousands like me, or maybe it is just me and it is not worth their time to make the change. They need more communication with customers -- more easy and quick communication -- in order to tell for sure.
