Take action against junk mail | |||||||||||||||||
I'm not sure to what extent this is legal. I want to get rid of junk mail. I guess many others too. I've done all the necessary steps, but many credit card and other applications keep slipping through the cracks. My idea is to make marketers pay for this, by sending back their prepaid envelopes empty. If everybody would do that, marketers would have a good 'incentive' to be more selective in sending out their junk mail.

This is an amazingly good idea.
I have been doing this for years, but I go you one better! I take all the junk they send me (the "incredible offer", etc, fold it up, stuff it back in the postage-paid envelope, and mail it back. Let THEM pay the costs of disposing their trash (and postage both ways).
If you really want to have fun, keep some fishing weights around for letters you particularly despise. Tape a weight into the envelope (so it doesn't rip out in shipping) and you can get them to pay several dollars to get their spiel mailed back to them!
