Why cant we have a single Remote for TV,VCR and all with just slots for more than one equipments.Every time you buy a new gaget you jut need to add a small card to Remote and you get the interface on ur remote that is intended for that device.What i am propsing is that Can mafatrures hardware decide to have a common inetface?.

No they can't. The best thing would be if manufaturers were so either use a nearly standard universdal, or even subcontract to universal remote companies like DirecTV recently has with Universal Electronics.
If you buy a Television, they often have a small door that hides many other buttons and can sometimes hide buttons for a VCR. Then if you buy a VCR from the same manufacturer you may be able to perform simple tasks such as Play, Stop, Fastforwards and Rewind.
The remote can be replaced with a tablet pc type LCD screen and pen, so you could bring up a on-screen menu of the device you want to control then tap it and it sends the command to a device that controls other devices.
search for "universal remote" and look for "learning capability" in it. there are plenty of such products available in the market.
