2 problems with drawing pins: (1) they are circular and roll off tables; (2) the old metal ones always land spike up. So construct them by getting small plastic pyramid and sticking metal spike into the base.

Elegant idea. Simple. Low cost. Somebody should market this.

Although this is a good idea, I wonder how significant it is.I have done quite a lot of technical drawing over the last 50 years and everybody I worked with used tape to hold down drawings.
