Mood ring for baby bottles | |||||||||||||||||
I'm sure that someone has already thought of this, but why don't baby bottles have a color-based temperature guide (using the same technique as mood rings). A certain color (green, say) would show that the temperature was just right. (It would have to survive the high temperatures of dishwashers, of course, but surely there must be temperature-sensitive dyes that can handle this)

My guess is they probably just can't do it reliably enough. As soon as it shows warm when it's really hot, just once, their a$$ is sued into oblivion.
Or just add an ethanol thermometer to the sides of the bottle. Those are good up to about 200 celsius, double the boiling point of water.
Or maybe you could try the age old "put a couple of drops on your wrist" trick. It's much cheaper to develop and it allows an adult to verify the temperature before giving a baby some scalding liquid.
