Jet skis and snowmobiles have the same basic layout. Might it be possible to engineer one vehicle with common major componets (motor, transmission, etc) and interchangable seasonal running gear. Tracks for the winter and a hull for the summer. the cost of each unit should be reduced and the combo machine will have a practical use for an entire year.

They may look similar on the outside, but the basic structures are quite different: the snowmobile has a frame that majot components bolt to, the JetSki (or Personal Watercraft, PWC)is basically a small boat hull. It might be possible to design a hull that a snowmobile chassis would fit into, but the frame would make for a heavier vessel. Powering the PWC's water pump with a snowmobile powertrain would also be less efficient.

I like multi-use vehicles, but in this case I think it would be simpler and cheaper just to buy both snomobile and PWC than to try to combine the two into one vehicle.
