Stand-up Comedy in line | |||||||||||||||||
Waiting in line at the campus bookstore, or at the cashier's office, registrar's office--just about anywhere on the first day of classes--is a mentally and physically taxing task. Why not take your mind off your discomfort by listening to humor? College performing arts instructors could ask appropriate students in their classes to volunteer to do stand-up comedy for the people waiting in line for the next available person. The student comedian could easily reach his audience using humor geared towards the issue at hand...book costs, class expenses, scheduling worries, etc. Not only does this help lighten the mood of the people waiting in line, it gives the student experience in working with an audience.

I've also thought that product sampling should take while people are waiting in line (movies, ...). They are usually bored and the new product demo would be welcome.
