Ideas have parts. Ideas can be good for different reasons. A single aggregate rating does not give enough range for evaluating many of the ideas on this site. Entrepreneurial ideas generally show a need, propose a solution, and (possibly) propose details on implementation. It might be helpful to let people rate ideas on these attributes:

Need: Recognizes a need worth considering. (Entrepreneurs may start with the need and develop their own solutions.)

Solution: Proposes a credible solution. (Entrepreneurs may see a route to implementation.)

Implementation: Provides reasonable details on implementation. (People in product design and marketing may want to think about this.)

Other attributes might also be useful:

Creative: Spark of a novel idea. (Might want this as icebreaker for your next brainstrorming session.)

Public: Interesting idea for public policy discussion. (Pundits and Talking Heads may want to collect this for their next commentary.)

I'm voting in favor of the idea even though most times I'd rather just give a thumbs up or thumbs down. There are times though when an idea is really creative but the suggested implementation is poorly thought out. It would be nice to give credos to the creative part and show the implementation needs more work.
