Multiple Home Pages | |||||||||||||||||
Currently, browsers that support tabbed browsing (Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, Safari, etc.) only support automatically loading a single page when loaded. I'd like my browser to be able to automatically load multiple pages when I open it.

I would like to be able to form groups of URLs and have the broswer open all pages in the group I select. The group could be a folder and operate in the same way that Windows handles a music folder.
You should make a local page with pop-ups of the pages that you really want to open. You can even have that root page auto-refresh to one of the pages, so it goes away and you are left with only what you want.
I've thought about it, but I don't know that there's a direct way to get Firefox to open new tabs from Javascript. Popups, sure...and there is a plugin that causes popup requests to spawn new tabs.
However, that's not the solution I'm looking for; I don't want to modify a page of HTML and Javascript every time I want to add or remove a site from the list of sites I visit frequently.
You cant directly have it open them right when you open Firefox, however, you can create a folder of bookmarks (pages you want to visit) and then open the bookmarks folder (either in the bookmark tool bar or the drop down menu) and click (open in tabs) it will open each page in a seperate tab.
tekknoschtev: That works pretty well...thanks.
I'm using Firefox 0.8, and you can do exactly what you ask for. The home page preference setting has a button for "use current page" and one for "use current pageS". Oh, and you can definitely open new tabs from javascript, as well.
kevinb9n: Well, there it is. I never saw it.
yep, it has already been on the market for a while, but you need Apple OS X and Safari 1.2 for it;

It's already in Mozilla too - go to the pages and then go Edit->Preferences->"Use Current Group".
Ask and Ye shall receive. Follow the link and you will be able to have a homepage filled with icons of all your favorite sites. Its free and easy to set up, I use it myself.
