There have been a lot of complaints about people speeding through school zones. The City of Clovis has initiated a program that allows concerned citizens to check-out a speed detector device from the police department, and to use it to record the speed of vehicles in school zones - that is a great idea.

But I offer an idea - what if speed detectors were issued to all school crossing guards? What if, at any time that a crossing guard is not assisting our children across the street - that they utilize the speed detectors? Would this not become a detriment to the speeders?

Speeding in School Zones. Not just there! Drivers are still no very respectful of our School Buses. My granddaughter was missed bu inches last year infront of our home when the Bus was clearly visible, and had the warning lights going. A green pickup decided not to wait...Perhaps School Busses could be equipped with imaging devices that come on when the waring devices are active to take pictures front and back to provide better idetification of these careless drivers.
