Fast food restaurants are a true American invention. Here is a new one, for the folks who look for an alternative to all existing and predictable places.

I call it "Frosteria". It is a nice sit-down environment. The customer selects a frozen dinner from the many display units and hands it to the staff at the cashier for "preparation".The restaurant staff will use the microwave, cook it and serves it to "table 3" in a nice basket with appropriate cutlery. Presto. All drinks and beverages are ordered or picked up from a self serve machine. The price would be very reasonable and the profit better than average. No expensive kitchen equipment needed,no chefs required, no spoiled left overs, few if not any hygene problems, few dishes to wash and limited staff requirements.A big green garbage bag is your best friend.

Your food selection is immense. Just look in your frozen food section in the super market. From Italian pasta dishes, Swedish meatballs, turkey dinners, roast beef, Lean Cuisine, large trays for the super hungry, etc.

I see it as a fine alternative for the busy person who has trouble finding a little variety in his meal choice the fast way.

The establishment itself would be very inexpensive to set up: You need display deepfreezers, a few micrwave ovens, cutlery, nice tables and a beverage selection. It could be the "cheapest" franchise in restaurant history, ideal in cities across the USA and Canada. Let the designers come up with the right decor and a few other "frills" and a new trend is on its way.Gordon Max

Not a bad idea if one of the added frills is decent tasting stuff. I do my own cooking and I have never discovered any frozen food to compare in flavor and quality to a normally well prepared meal.Incidentally, if you are satisfied with the quality of microwave heated frozen food, why have staff handle the food? I am sure a dispensing machine can have a microwave compartment so that the selected dish would automatically drop into the microwave compartment directly out of the freezer to be heated and the customer could take it directly to the table.

This sounds like an automat, only with frozen foods instead of fresh.
