At this time, we are a little short on patrolman. That means that there are probably a few extra patrol cars just sitting around and not being used. Maybe the police department could station these empty cars around town - move them often and increase the P.D.'s visibility? The "bad guys" wouldn't know whether or not the car was really occupied or not - if it was set-up correctly (use of mannequins, tinted windows, the parked position of the vehicle, etc.) - it definitely would keep them on their toes.

Also, what if in addition to the officers already being allowed to take their police vehicles home - other personnel from the City of Clovis, were allowed to drive some of the unused vehicles?

These may be farfetched ideas, but I'm hoping maybe they will help others get their creative juices flowing and that some really good ideas can be generated.

Fake police posts have been used in many countries/locales with varying degrees of success. They have been shown to greatly reduce speeding in sensitive areas, but a problem is that people in the area soon know which posts are fake, so it would mostly affect 'newbies' and non-residents.

I hope you're not implying all crime comes from outside the borders of beautiful Clovis? ;-)
