To improve the commute - which is terrible here, I suggest that Tri-Met get a program going for commuter van-pools. Seattle has an excellent one. ie, you live in a location, so do about 100 others who are all commuting about the same time to some area far away. Create a route, and off you go in this subsidized commute reduction program.

Works great. C'mon Portland - let's figure this out.
