My wife and I just learned, that whenever our daughter - who attends Clovis High School, is going to have a substitute teacher for a certain length of time - that the school mails us (every student's parents in that class) a notification.
That to me, sounds like a lot of paperwork being generated and a lot of postage being spent. Why couldn't the school system set-up a way that a computer generated telephone call could be made to the parents and guardians of the class members? A similiar system is already being used to notify parents when a student is tardy or absent - why couldn't the same system be used?

Good concept, but wouldn't an email notice be better? One of your kids might get the computer call and you wouldn't receive the message.
I know of some schools that make report cards and interim grades available on the web. They even make next week's planned lunch menu avilable. And sports schedules. I suppose they give any important info about teacher assignments. If your school doesn't do, why don't you phone the principal as ask why.
Nice idea, but nothing special. There are already tons of automatic notification systems. This is just a matter of your school system being behind the times--talk to them.
why even bother to notify because of subsitutes, if it were needed email or simple releying thrugh the child should suffice.
