Walls and Pictures -- Changing | |||||||||||||||||
Near my work wall there is a "blue room", not a green room but a "blue room", and a "blue room" is usually synonymous to sleep. The walls of the room are a relaxing deep sky blue with dashes of white to help us "wind down" from stressful situations. After going into the blue room to decompress, my partner started to dose off and we needed to get back to doing some work. With this dilemma, a new twist to a prior idea arose. The new twist is to devise some sort of wall treatment that can change colour with a controller. Yes, futurist. Yes, it's currently probably impossible. But I don't think anything is impossible if a mind is worked well enough to find solutions. :-) What's the old idea? Wall hangings or pictures that change to suit one's mood or guests. :-) My old work wall had a lovely and bright sunflower yellow and purple accents to keep me alert and active while open to original ideas and a sense of connection.

An idea you could use would be to use Samsung's new flexable LCD monitors as a sort of "wallpaper," though this would probably be prohibitively expensive. Here is a link about the monitors: http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,119242,pg,1,RSS,RSS,00.asp
The same technology could be sewn into a shirt that could have changing designs on it or used in a home art gallery that would slowly fade between a slideshow of famous artwork, screen-saver style.
A lower tech and cheaper approach would be to use louvered curtains over the walls. They're like venetian blinds except the blades hang vertically. They make them in different sizes, including ones that go from the ceiling all the way to the floor. You could paint one side one color and the other side a different color. You could also paint the walls behind them a third color which would show if you turn the louvers only half way.
