My wife and I -- and likely millions of other couples -- have two different laptop computers issued by our respective offices. We want to only have one large monitor, keyboard, and mouse on the desk and use the same peripherals at different times.

It would seem to me that a universal docking station with adaptors that could be purchased for a specific brand.
