Recently there have been problems with airliners having lasers flashed into the pilots compartment that might incapacitate the pilots at a crucial landing operation. Lasers are usually restricted to tight light frequencies so it should be possible to lower a transparent shield over the window to block the most common laser frequencies but permit enough light of other frequencies to not deter pilot operations. Alternatively, the pilots could wear sun glasses of the proper blocking frequencies. The laser effect could also be used in fighter planes during war to dazzle opponents.

I saw the same episode of CSI. I have been flying for 15 years now and have never heard (from pilots) that this was a serious problem. Nor have I ever had anyone blind me when I was flying. It seems to me that it would be very difficult for someone to accurately aim a laser at a plane with sufficient duration to blind the pilot. Additionally, aircraft with two pilots would be even less prone to accidents from this hazzard. If you have any account of this happening let me know. I would be very interested in reading about it.
