Airlines sometimes end up with empty seats that could be easily filled if they reduced the fare at the last minute & made sure interested parties knew about it. To let interested parties know, use an alert system like Yahoo's stock price alert system. You'd get an e-mail saying something like: "Flight 4924 Charleston to Tampa for March 11 has just been reduced t0 $173.50."
