Think of all the site where u enter your postal address .. amazon, ebay , mapquest , banking accounts , credit cards and tons of place u dont even recall .And if you happen to move (about 20% of Americans change their address each year i.e more than one address change per second ) you have to update all these guys of your new address.

What I recommend is a internet based Address management site something like www.addressregistry.org (btw this domain is available as of now). This free site will let the user create an account for his address. Each address for a user will have a globally unique id .. This id can be used on most premium sites like amazon , ebay , yahoo etc .. So if you want to say get driving direction from your house to a park , you have the option to enter your address id from addressregistry and the site (mapquest) automatically gets the address corresponding to that id from addressregistry (user does not have to type the whole address just a self selected id.).

Alternatively when you move your residence. you just update your address corresponding to your address id and it informs all such business who use your address id about your move. BTW usps also provides change of address data for a small fee. so technically if you just put a change of address form it will automatically inform all intrested business about your change.

Business would love to add support for addressregistry since it becomes easier for their customers to enter data (minimum typing) .Also they will have the updated data for their subscribers.

End users would use this registry for free ( All their accounts with service providers are automatically updated). They can *optionally* opt for coupons from local business they are intrested in like safeway , 24 hr fitness etc

The site provider makes money from these local business since they save marketing cost as they do targetted marketting to people intrested in their coupons.
