NO FREE PAPERS Yard Sign | |||||||||||||||||
A short little yard sign, like a "keep off the grass" sign that tells these "free newspaper" people to skip my yard and save their free newspaper. I've been getting this "free" newspaper week after week for the last two years which I have recycled unopened, every week. The paper is 95% advertising as far as I am concerned and the content isn't compelling enough to bother opening.

This is common in Germany and Switzerland, and is legally enforcable.
You can buy labels to put on your letter: "Werbung nicht erwünscht" or "Kein nicht adressierte Post".
If the advertisers ignore it, they get fined.
How about requiring these free papers to put a phone and email on their front page that allows people to easily "un-subscribe" --violations would be subject to fine. Yes, this requires the inconvenience of calling or emailing to stop the free subscription, but it would seem to be better than a sign (sight pollution).
'You can buy labels to put on your letter: "Werbung nicht erwünscht" or "Kein nicht adressierte Post".'
You see, that wouldn't work over here because most people don't understand German. :-)
